Well Cottage is the most disabled friendly property that we have. It's all on one level with the front door being wide enough for a wheelchair to enter. However, the visitor would then need to be able to walk whether with the assistance of a walking stick or frame to access the rest of the cottage. The ensuite is off of the bedroom and is reasonably spacious with a disabled friendly walk in shower.
There is guaranteed parking right next to the cottage, however, we do have a gravel drive that could make it a little more challenging but not impossible, as we have had some guests arrive using a wheelchair to enter the property.
The sitting room/ kitchen and dining area are clutter free, and the rug on the floor can always be moved if it's difficult for the guest to walk on. We are happy to do all we can to best accommodate all of our guests to make their stay easier.
Annie's Cottage is not suitable for a wheelchair user sadly, as the front door is more narrow than the one in Well Cottage. It also goes straight into the kitchen with a sharp left turn into the sitting room. The bathroom also has a bath with a shower above it making it more challenging for those with mobility issues.
The Chapel is also difficult for wheelchair users. The area leading up to the entrance to the building is about 6 inches lower than the front door, however, once you enter the ground floor it would be possible to use a wheelchair on that level, and the furniture can easily be moved around to better accommodate that guest. There is a sofa bed on the ground floor, but to access the kitchen, toilet and shower, the guest would need to be able to use a walking stick as they are on the first floor. The stairs to the first floor are quite gentle with a large tread and a sturdy hand rail. On the floor there is an open plan kitchen with a utility room housing a toilet. The master bedroom is also on the first floor which has an ensuite with a toilet. The shower has a step of about 4 inches but other than that, the bedroom and ensuite are all on the same level.
