The Chapel is a very large, beautiful, part 13th and part 18th century grade II listed building of historical importance. Originally a hall house, it would have been the center of the village in Manston, where locals would have carried out business. Centuries later it became part of a farm house, and has now been converted into a luxurious 3 bedroom holiday property. The Chapel has been given a Gold 4 Star rating from Visit Britain.
The property can sleep between 2 to 10 people and is arranged over three floors. The very large downstairs sitting room is approximately 40 foot long (12 metres), and has a full size pool table, a very large television with free view, several comfortable sofas' and a baby grand piano. A Wii and xbox 360 are also available for guests to use. The 3 foot thick walls in this beautifully room, keeps the temperature comfortably cool on hot summer days, and wonderfully warm on cold winter ones.
A lovely reclaimed walnut staircase leads up to the first floor, open plan, modern, fully fitted walnut kitchen/dining room. The dining table seats up to 8 people, and the adjoining breakfast bar with three additional tall chairs, cater for extra guests. These chairs are particularly popular with both adults and children alike. A high chair is also available for the younger diner. The layout of the kitchen, breakfast bar and dining suite, make for a very family friendly as well as sociable kitchen, perfect for families or entertaining. The microwave, dishwasher, fridge and additional fridge/freezer, add to the ease of cooking for larger groups. The full length windows accentuate the thick walls, and combined with the chandelier and beautiful kitchen, create a truly unique room. In the evening, the lovely blue spotlights under the units, create the perfect ambiance for a relaxing evening around the dining table.
The utility room conveniently placed next to the kitchen, houses the washing machine, tumble dryer, the very useful additional fridge and freezer, and a most important additional toilet.
The bedroom on the first floor is extravagantly large, with a high ceiling, chandalier, king size four poster bed, and sumptuous burgundy carpet, giving this room a romantic and luxurious feel. Full size patio windows look out onto the private front courtyard and garden. And to complete the extravagance, the enormous 8 foot doors leading into the well equipped ensuite, completes this lovely room. This is definately the bedroom where it is essential if not compulsory, to have breakfast in bed!
On the second floor the two additional double bedrooms have their own unique character, with high ceilings, exposed beams, flint walls and windows with far reaching views over the landscape. Each has an inbuilt wardrobe, a small dressing table with mirror and chair, a rustic round chest of draws with matching bed side tables, and lamps. Both bedrooms have amazingly comfortable (according to our guests), 6 foot zip link beds which can remain as one large luxurious bed, or be converted in to two singles. All bedrooms have their own ensuite.
Each bedroom has a 22" television with free view and DVD, allowing parents to be able to send the little darlings off to bed, as they put their feet up and watch something nice on the large television screen in the sitting room, whilst snuggling into the big squishy sofas. Equally the little darlings could always send mummy and daddy off to bed with a DVD whilst they party! However, children please do remember, only the walls are 3 feet thick and not the doors, so keep the noise down or you might wake your parents up!
Just in case you decide to bring the relatives, additional portable beds are available. There is a 4 foot divan bed and two single 3 foot portable beds. These beds can be placed in any of the bedrooms. A travel cot is also available.
A secluded garden at the rear of The Chapel is the perfect place for relaxing or eating alfresco. The newly created dining area in a beautiful alcove, surrounded by a grade 11 listed flint, stone and brick wall, is perfect for enjoying a relaxing meal or barbeque, protected from the elements. In the summer this area catches the sun in the late afternoon and is a lovely place to sit and relax.
However, for younger energetic visitors who need to let off a little steam, there is a secluded hard surface play area with a basket ball net a short distance from the front of The Chapel. This area is for the exclusive use of all guests at Manston Court. Although close, it is far enough away from The Chapel garden, that adults can relax or finish their meal in peace, whilst the children play. Conversely mums, it is a great place to send dad to get some 'quality time' with the kids whilst you relax!
Finally, in the sitting room by the beautiful staircase, there is a servant's bell. There was also one on the upstairs landing by the kitchen until the builders lost it under the floor boards! However, the one thing missing in this amazing property is the servant. She says that she is definitely on strike for the forseeable future......So push the bell at your own risk!
Check in time for The Chapel is 3.30pm, and check out time is no later than 11am. Thank-you.
